Racism for the Hypocrites

There was an incident of racial profiling in Montgomery, IL, ladies and gentlemen. From what I hear, if this was Montgomery, AL it would be called “job well done.”

I saw this in the news last night and it sent the pretentious parents into a semi-frenzy. It’s a video of an African-American family who the Montgomery police apparently followed around in their car and harassed them with racial slurs and all that stuff.

Towards the very end of the video they showed on the news, the police officer was recorded to have said “fucking niggers.”

“Oh my god Alex! Why did you say that?!”

Because it’s a word? Christ, I didn’t call YOU one; I’m saying it was what the officer said.

I sympathize with the harassed family. If a police officer followed me around on the road and threatened to bust my window I’d be peeing my pants, too. But it just annoys the hell out of me when other people (my parents included) are flipping out because of this outrageous situation. Really, Dad? Every time we’re downtown you make at least three comments about “how them people give themselves a bad reputation.” Next time, try not to be such a hypocrite about this okay? Thanks.

Note on Racism: After a couple of Anthropology classes (oh they’re big on this issue), I’ve learned that “racism” is a term used by academics and ignorant individuals to fuck with other people. I’m not saying it’s not a real issue but it’s a very complicated term/label. What I do know is that you can apply it on everything and you can’t be told you’re wrong because that would make them racist. Moral of the story? Say everything is racist if you want to be that jackass who doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

Why can’t people just be less like my pretentious parents and more like this guy I know? He calls everyone every racial slur you can think of and he doesn’t give a shit because he is racist.

See what I did there?
